Apache Maven installation (Part 1)

Windows 7/Xp:

Apache maven does not have any service component for windows. You have to download Maven zip file and extract it and configure windows environmental path variable. You can install maven in windows to follow below steps:

1. First you have to install JDK. You can download latest JDK following url: JDK download link

2. Add a “JAVA_HOME” into windows environment variable and give JDK path  that you installed. Usually JDK is installed following windows path: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_30. 

3. Now download Apache Maven for this link. Maven download link

You can download latest Apache Maven zip file from this official website. e.g apache-maven-2.2.1-bin.zip.

4. Extract that downloaded zip file in any location path. Example: F:\maven

5. Now add “MAVEN_HOME” into windows environment variable and give maven path.

6. Add maven bin folder into windows environment variable. Now you can access Maven command in every location path of our windows. 

7.  DONE!! Maven is installed on your windows machine. Now you have to verify it. Go to Windows command prompt and type this command: “mvn -version”

C:\Users\adib>mvn -version

Apache Maven 2.2.1 (r801777; 2009-08-07 03:16:01+0600)

Java version: 1.6.0_30

Java home: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_30\jre

Default locale: en_US, platform encoding: Cp1252

OS name: "windows 7" version: "6.1" arch: "x86" Family: "windows"

If you see following message that means Maven is successfully installed on your Windows.

Weekend Testing Experience

Today I have really disastrous experience on weekend Testing!!!!!!!

I didn’t make good performance. I did lots of wrong!!!

Today, I test http://www.web2pdfconvert.com/ and I get only 30 minutes to test this web page.

This web site is actually converting URL into PDF File. If I write http://www.yahoo.com then it will convert URl page into a PDF file.
It was very bad experience to test this site. I didn’t find any important bug and I did some mistake too…. :(
I thought that I found some bug, but those are not exists.
I wrote http://google.com and convert into PDF file. I found a blank PDF file. I thought it’s a bug. If I am not given full URl, it convert a PDF file which is BLANK.
But, when I reproduce it, I don’t find any problem. I make a decision very quickly which will make a bad impact on my Testing carrier.
Any way, Today’s weekend testing I learned:

1. When find some problem or think that it may be a bug then reproduce it again and make sure – “is it Bug or Not”.

2. Try to test all feature of the application when testing time is short.

3. Writing clear and explicit Bug report.

4. Think very quickly to find application boundary case.

5. And obviously don’t forget about “Oracle”.

LinKedIn is professional network of trusted contacts gives his user’s an advantage to his/her career. Their mission is to connect the world’s professionals to make them more productive and successful. They believe that are making the people more productive and successful but they are product does not looks productive as per as their advertisement.
In Linkedin View under the Profile mode, there is a button “Add Shaddhat(Other User name) to your Network”. Selecting this button any users can add other users of his network. When I (Adib Bin Khaled) see in my “View Profile” mode, I see that button as “Add Adib to your Network” which is really confusing me. How can I add myself in my network? If I am adding me in my network then I think it’s a major bug. Because it will happen that I know a person whose name is similar to me. It is really illogical that I can add myself in my network. So if I am adding myself in my network it is a major bug and I am giving this bug at Major priority.
Now, actually condition is that I can not add me in My own network. When I select the “Add Adib to your Network” button, I can not add me in My Network. But I think this button still makes me confuse. I call these types of problem as design problem. I am giving trivial priority of these types of design problem. LinKedIn believe that they are productive and professional. These types of Bug hampered their professional reputation. Because there are many Professional people who use LinKedIn to built up their professional network. These types of Bug make them questioning. When some professional people see these bugs then they will think … “How can LinKedIn make people professional if they are not looks like professional?”

So I think LinksdIn developer may think over this issue. After all, this issue will goes for their company reputation.
